The political class plays an important role in the politics of any way to structure the politics played in the area concerned. The political classes in any society consist of elite which exercise respondent political influence. INTRODUCTION
1.1 BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY

1.2 STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

Therefore the role played by the political class is a subject of great important to the society as a whole, there is need to consider the roles played by the political class in Nigeria. Has the political class contributed to the problem being faced in the political arena of Nigeria? What interest is the political class contributed to the serving self or general interest?
Can we really talk of a true political class in Nigeria or even a coherent political class? How has the political class contributed to the abortion of the third republic? And how has the abortion of the republic affected today’s politics?
1.3 PURPOSE OF THE STUDY
The purpose of the study is to look through the political
history of Nigeria briefly and pick out peculiar features and use. How these features affect the present Nigeria politics. And the roles being played by the political class will be examine as against the roles they are supposed to play.
Also the aborted third republic politics will be cooked into and its affect on present and future politics in Nigeria.
1.4 SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY
The importance of the study objectively the politics of Nigeria and discover the short coming of the political class and the masses and whole.
The work will be useful and also indispensable for other research that can use this work as a preamble for further research work and also it can be used as a reference work on similar topic.
The work will also be useful for the Nigeria government in formulating policies that has to do with future transition, as the loop-holes of previous transition programme will be revealed.
Also the work will be useful to the coming political class that are ready to learn from past mistakes.
Firstly, the work will be useful for one general public who are interested in Nigerian politics as the project will contributed to knowledge.
1.5 RESEARCH HYPOTHESIS
The research hypothesis to be used in this study will include historically research hypothesis collection of information from books written by notable authors and information from national dallies magazines and journals.
1.6 SCOPE AND LIMITATION OF THE STUDY
The study will be based on the politics of Nigeria and the political roles of the political class. It will discuss extensively the politics of the aborted third republic and the roles played by the political class.
