ABSTRACT

This report shows the work carried out by the company. I was attached to during my four (4) months industrial training. In  the course of this training an exposed to various kind of industrial mechanics e.g the declaimer, stacker, grinding mill etc. in the process I was made to understand the various process that the run off mines (ore) undergo before it is ready to be used. This process is called crushing line and many more. Finally, this report contains the problem I encountere during my training, relevance of the training and advice for future participants.

CHAPTER ONE

INTRODUCTION

The national Iron Ore Mining Company  Limited {NIOMCO L} is located at Itakpo in  Kogi State of Nigeria this organization I one of the famous Iron Ore producing company in the country.

The  project is designed to upgrade the iron ore extracted from the ITALPE mine. The project includes the following: A crushing line, a beneficiation plant, a truck and train loading station, rail line leading to AJAKUTA steel, the construction of a dam (as a water reserve for the plant), an emergency power plant, an overhead electrical power line of 132KV, and all necessary ancillary equipments.

In the description of the site we should be able to locate the following, the mine, the mine offices and facilities, the industrial facilities, the railway and roads and the dumping areas.

On the beneficiation plant. Where I  was attached to for the training in the company unit, we can location the following units: mechanical, electrical, mines etc. after the sole manger too, and so all so each units e.g mechanical has there manager too. He is to direct the workers under the section he is been mangering.

Finally, production of the Iron Ore in the country was a great achievement because with the help of the ore our roads can be  made without going outside the country for ore and so many other included.

CHAPTER TWO

CRUSHING LINE

The crushing line or the first chain is aimed to transfer the ROM (run off mine) raw ore product in such a way to obtain  a crushed and blending ore way to obtain a crushed and blending ore with an average  size of 0/200mm and an average grade of iron of 33%. This crushed and blended ore is stored on two stock piles in the blending yard by means of a stacker.

The first chain or crushing line covers the installation extending from the “primary crushing” station  through  the screening and secondary crushing” to the stacker used for filling the blending” and the Homogenization yard”

The iron mines capacity is 1200mm. and the primary aim of the crushing or the first chain is to reduces it to o/200mm

In the first chain we have two types of crusher which includes secondary crushers

PRMARY CRUSHER

The primary crusher carried out the first reduction of sizes of the iron ore unloaded by trucks in the hopper C1. The primary crusher is also known as a “gyratory crusher” and in primary crusher  section we have a “control room” there in the control of the machine took place the primary crusher have “big electric motor with a high  speedy of function is to power the machines.

The material here  is been reduce or break down by a cump breaker” with the use of a hydraulic hammer. The ore of too large dimensions which cannot be accepted by the crusher is been break or reduce here. In the primary crusher an “Apron feeder” extracts the ore out of the hopper. It has or is equipped with speed variation the apron feeder deliver the ore to the “belt conveyor” BC1.1, that will be transferred to the secondary crusher.

SECONDARY CRUSHER

The secondary crusher carries out crushing “materials of large dimension” which were not enough reduce by primary crusher.  The crusher It has  a capacity of 1000kg and a serial No of 2338. The crusher is driven by “motor D17 No1” a speed monitor switches D17 SS01 checks crusher running. A screen driven by monitor D16Mo1 separate the  large iron ore which must be  crushed. Ore which doesn’t fall in crusher (coming from by- pass or screen) falls in hopper D10”. This “hopper is equipped with a very high  level DIOLSOI,  a high level D10LS 03.

The crusher ha s an apron feeder which extract the ore out of the hopper and it’s also equipped with speed, speed variation. The secondary crusher is also known as “Jaw crusher.

FUNCTIONS OF THE CRUSHER

  1. Size reduction
  2. Transportation
  3. Blending yard

BLENDING YARD

Blending yard is a section where the ore from the secondary crusher are mixed together. The ore from the secondary crusher pass through “BC1.2” to the “transfer station”  before it get to the blending yard. The material here are mixed together in equal ratio by the means of the following:

  1. Stacker
  2. Reclaimer

The “stocker ST1” is  used to “blend ore” being conveyed from the “primary crusher” and secondary crusher equipment by and secondary crushing” equipment by building piles” called “windrows”.

The two piles are made of   “cones”  which are filled during “several return tripe’s”.  The  length of the piles is about “400m”. the crusher and blended ore is stored on the two stockpiles in the blending yard by the means of a stacker. A “control cabin is used to set prepare control cabin is used to set  prepare. The stacker” before automatic operation start, if necessary (traveling, slewing and hoisting positions…) or to operate “ a change of piles”.

The stacker is made up of the following:

  • A tripper car
  • A boom
  • Miscellaneous devices e,g lubrication system, cable reels and rail clamp.

THE RECLAIMER

The reclaimer with the help of its sharp teeth inform of a rake will now mixed the ore from the ore from the stacker to equal ratio. The reclaimer has two conveyor belt on it own after  mixing the ore at will now transfer it to two belt with the  help of a carrier inform of a bucket and the two belt will transfer it to the main belt conveyor, that will now transfer the ore to the repartition bin.

REPATITION BIN

Repartition bin is a storage facility before mill. The capacity of repartition plant is 2500 tones per hour. It has three (3) compartments. The  material fall to each line through gravity. The  material are pushed down with the aid of a vibro feeder in each lines compartment.
