INTRODUCTION

BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY

The issue of salary/wages is of every workers interest  worldwide. In every country of the world, salary matter is always a great concern to employer or organisation which is the paying authority and what is paid as salaries and wages varies among workers as a result factors like experience, knowledge,  training and development.

Salaries and wages disparity means the difference in the average salaries and wages earned by the workforce of an organisation. The existence of a salary disparity suggests an economic inequity between workers of an organisation.

The consequent effects of such inequity in the salaries and wages of workers in an organisation as Nigeria Bottling Company Plc cannot be over-emphasised. The disparities in the salaries and wages scale or workers have some consequent effect which if not managed thoroughly can lead to crumbling of the organisation. One of the effects of such disparity is the withdrawal from work by workers, not actively involved in operation of the organisation.

This and many more consequence of the disparity is what the project set to address.

STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEMS

Based on the above declaration salaries and wages disparity leads to withdrawal of staff from work, it lead to de-motivation of staff, it also leads to high rate staff turn, over low productivity and lastly salaries and wages disparity leads to employee dissatisfaction in the company.

OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY

The study aimed as determining the consequences of wages and salaries disparity in an organization.

To find out if disparity in wages and salaries paid to workers result to low productivity

To find out if it leads to labour turnover

To find out of disparity leads to conflict in organization
