STATEMENT OF PROBLEM

It is expected that, leaders should be democratic, supportive and participatory in their approach of leadership. That is to say, leaders should be able to carry the subordinate along when making decisions and should encourage and support their subordinate so that they will be motivated to put in their best when carrying out their various duties.

But contrarily, to the above statement, the writer has discovered based on what is happening in organizations that, most leaders are Authoritarians and dictatorial in their approach to leadership, instead of been supportive, they employ the use of power and authority when instructing their sub-ordinate. Also, instead of the leaders to encourage their subordinate, they criticize them even if they are right.

This attitude of leaders has brought about de-motivation and disincentive to work, thereby leading to low productivity in the organizations.
