An attempt has been made by the research to examine planning as a tool for effective management in business organization. The case study of Unilever Nigeria plc Lagos
This project write-up will be sub-divided into five chapters in order to aid and easy recording and better understanding The first chapter of this project contains the general introduction, statement of problem, scope of the study, definition of terms, objectives of the study, historical background of the study, statement of hypothesis, organization chart and limitation of study Chapter two of this project deals with the literature review, types of planning, step in planning, importance of planning, advantages and disadvantages of planning in a business organization.
The chapter three of the project contains the research methodology and the types, secondary and primary source of data collection, observation and survey method, personal interview, sampling technique, population, stratified sampling, instrument of materials for using the method and question ire used.
Chapter four of this project deals with data presentation analysis and interpretation, and social demographic characteristics of the sample.
Finally chapters five of these projects contain summary, recommendation and conclusion, bibliography, appendix and questionnaire. Conclusion and recommendation to the findings in consideration of the case study and also to give necessary recommendation to the management so as to ensure improvement in their attitude towards self welfare.

1.1 INTRODUCTION
The marketing management of an organization is the action of several people to design and maintain an environment in which individual works together in group to accomplish pre selection aims objectives.
In other to achieve chose aim, the marketing management of any reputable business organization and j even government of any sector must lay down some planning strategies development of smooth organization.
1.2 STATEMENT OF PROBLEM
Planning as a tool for effective marketing management in business organization, mostly assist the practicing manager to their transaction. Some business fall woefully nowadays due to lack of adequate planning, therefore, both the government manager on industries must plan for their business venture.
1.3Â Â OBJECTIVE OF THE STUDY
The objectives of planning as a tool for effective marketing management in an organization are as follow:
- To evaluate the various type and classification of planning and steps taken in planning process by organization.
- To identify the importance planning and effect of failure plan organization.
- To establish or investigate the relationship between two variable which are effect of planning in a business organization?
- To examine the present.
- To employ technique to test ideas or knowledge of the company’s planning in the area where the study would be conducted.
- To recommended in business organization.
- To make recommendation based on the finding and outcome of the investigations.
1.4Â Â SCOPE OF THE STUDY
The research is to investigate the role or planning and its usefulness as a tool for effective management in a business organization (i.e. Unilever Nigeria plc). The study was limited to Apapa branch office in Lagos state because of time and cost.
