Government performs certain basic function for the state. This range from the maintenance of law and order to the provision of welfare service. These services are financed from public funds and as such, there is need to ensure accountability. Therefore, unlike the private sector, the public sector or government has been subjected to severe criticism leveled against government activities is gross inefficiently in the public sector in the country.
Government is accused of wastefulness in resource use and productivity. Such criticism are marked by comparing the productivity in the private sector with that of the public sector, the government of the country witness a setback in the public sector in the public, and this brings about the causes of inefficiency in the public sector.

STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM
Various opinions have been expressed regarding inefficiency problem in responsibilities. But we are going to consider vividly the reason behind the minimized in Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin, Kwara State.
1.3Â Â Â Â Â Â Â PURPOSE OR OBJECTIVE OF THE STUDY
The purpose or objective of the study examines the cause of inefficiency in the public sector in the country which can be highlighted.
That the study is intended to assisted the government or public sector to know what the effect and solution of the inefficiency in the public sector in the country.
That the study is intended to help the government to know the impact of inefficiency in the public sector.
The study also focuses on the cause of the inefficiency in the public sector.
It is also hoped that the researcher and the general public will derive maximum benefit from the outcome of the study. Providing the technical knowhow, so that every services provided by  public sector in country can be in conformity with new technological in the economy.
- 1.4Â SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY
Since no government organization or establishment or Parastatals is hundred percent, it has the become necessary to know the cause of the inefficiency in the public sector in the country.
How does private sector control and manage, this inefficiency and how can public sector provides solution to the cause and rise it to victory?
In bringing effectiveness and efficiency in public sector and by choosing Kwara State Polytechnic, as my case study.
It is than assumed that the result of this study will be of immense value to both administrator and management.
- 1.5Â SCOPE AND LIMITATION OF THE STUDY
This project work covers the cause of the inefficiency in the public sector. It looks into it because in most public sector, there is gross inefficiency but for clarity and simplicity, I choose a case study of Kwara Polytechnics, inefficiency affect not only the authority but the staff and student also feel the impact and oppression cause by this plaque inefficiency and the limitation of the study are including, the financial or fraud constraints time factor inadequate relevant data a which essential in such research work and other one is the attitude of the workers found within the public sector.
- 1.6Â DEFINITION OF TERMS
Inefficiency: this is just the opposite of efficiency that is inability to successfully achieve a set down goals and objective with in a stipulated period of time.
Public sector: an organization or establishment that is owned by the government. The government has the main objective of public sector which is not profit oriented but to provide satisfying needs for their citizen.
Private sector: this is the organization established by individual or group to provide social need for their fellow people with the aim of making profit.
Organization: it can be defined as the act of planning and arranging things effectively. In order words, It is a way or process in which different parts of system are arranged and work together.

The arrangement of this research work is done in chapter order. Chapter one deals with introduction, statement of the problem, purpose or objective of the study, significance of the study, scope and limitation of the study, definition of terms, and the organization of the study.
Chapter Two, enlightens us about the literature review, what is efficiency in public sector, causes of inefficiency in public sector, solution to the problem of inefficiency in public sector.
Chapter three comprises of the study of methodology or research method, introduction sample and population of the study, source of data or data collection instrument, method of analysis and the research problem.
Chapter four contains data presentation and analysis, inefficiency in Kwara State Polytechnic, effect of inefficiency in Kwara State Polytechnic and the solution to inefficiency in Kwara State Polytechnic.
