ABSTRACT

This study is undertaken to assess the impact of financial planning and control in achieving organization’s objectives in platinum Habib Bank Plc Chapter one of this research work contains the introduction: Background to the study, statement of the general problem, statement of research questions, objectives of the study etc chapter two also contains a review of related literatures written by various authors on financial and control.

Chapter three is all about the methods adopted in data collection; research population, sample size and sampling techniques and the method of data analysis. Chapter four contains data presentation and analysis, including proof of research hypothesis. Finally, chapter five summarizes the findings, draw conclusion and make necessary recommendations.

INTRODUCTION

BACKROUND OF THE STUDY

Human Resources have played a significant role in the economic development in most developed countries such as United State of America, Britain and Japan among others. It can, therefore be concluded that a developing country like Nigeria with its rich natural resources and the necessary financial support can also experience such economic success if the appropriate attention is given to the development and training of her human resource.

It is thus seen that in Nigeria the government is taking adequate steps to ensure that people acquire the necessary knowledge and skills.

The provision of secondary and technical schools, vocational training instates and colleges, professional and tertiary institutions, as well as the educational reforms currently taking place in the country, are all geared towards the acquisition of skills and knowledge to ensure effectiveness and efficiency in our workplaces. With these efforts by the government, it has become necessary for organizations to provide long and systematic training and development programs for its employees.

This is because every aspect and activity of an organization involves people. For instance, a manager in an organization will not be successful until he has subordinates benefit him who are well equipped with skills, talent and knowledge.

With the changing nature of business and environment interms of technological advancement and increase in competition, organizations have to adopt to the change for survival and growth in order to achieve excellence, therefore, the need for human resource training and development can not be ignored. There is no gainsaying the fact that, in Business setting, the single advantage that an organization has over it competitors is the number of qualified and updated personnel in such organization.

It is obvious to every human resource mangers that, when there is performance deficiency or performance gap that is due to lack of requisite skills and knowledge in an organization the most appropriate mechanism to bridge the gap is an effective training and development. Programme.

The death of qualified personnel who manage our on-growing economy has always be a pointer to the need for increased investment in human resources training and development to acquire the necessary attitude, knowledge and the right skills for effective job performance.

If an organization needs more intelligence personnel, if careers are shorter and need to be updated, above all, if people need to be more self-sufficient; then training and development is the best alternative solution to their problem.

In light of the above expression, my concerned in this research work is to see how effective training and development can positively affect employees’ performance in order to achieve excellence of services, which will certainly determine the position of the organization over its competitors. So, to achieve this, I centered my research work on Nigerian Bottling Company, Kaduna as a case study.

1.2 STATEMENT OF THE GENERAL PROBLEM

Many employees have failed in organizations because their needs for training was not identified and provided for as an indispensable part of management function.
