The duration of the programme is 18 months. Diploma in Administration Management is awarded to students who successfully complete at least forty-eight (48) credits including the compulsory courses as well as submit an acceptable project work.

Candidates may be admitted into the Department through the University Matriculation Examination (UME) and Direct Entry (DE). The duration of UME-based programme is four (4) years while the duration of DE-based programme is three (3) years
UTME Candidates seeking admission through UTME should have credits in at least five (5) subjects including English Language and Government or History. The 5 subjects must include at least 2 Social Science subjects and a minimum of pass in Mathematics in not more than two sitting.
Direct Entry
In addition to the βOβ Level entry requirements as stated under the UTME, candidates must have General Certificate of Education (GCE) or its equivalent at the Advanced Level with a minimum of two social science subjects including Government or History.
UNIVERSITY OF ILORIN ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS FOR POSTGRADUATES STUDENTS Β
I. M.Sc. Political Science
A candidate may be eligible for admission into the M.Sc. (Political Science) programme if he/she has a minimum of Second Class (Lower Division) Honours Degree in Political Science from a reputable University.
The duration of the Programme shall be a minimum of 12 (twelve) calendar months and a maximum of 24 calendar months. A candidate must pass a minimum of 35 credits including all compulsory courses to be eligible for graduation.
II. Master in Public Administration (MPA)
A candidate may be eligible for admission into the Master in Public Administration (MPA) programme if he/she possesses at least a Honours Degree in any field from any recognized University. All candidates shall appear for a qualifying examination.
The duration of the MPA programme for Full-Time students is 18 months while Part-Time students will spend a minimum of 30 months. MPA degree is awarded to students who successfully complete at least forty-five credits (45) including the compulsory courses as well as submit an acceptable project work.
III. Master in International Studies MIS
A candidate may be eligible for admission into the Maser in International studies (MIS) programme if he/she possesses at least a Honours Degree in any field from any recognized University. All candidates shall appear for qualifying examination.
The programme will run for 18 months divided into two equal parts January β June shall be devoted to lectures while July-December will be for both lectures and project writing. Lectures hold on weekends fortnightly. To qualify for the award of Master of International Studies, candidates must pass not less than 35 credits including compulsory courses.
IV Post Graduate Diploma in International Affairs and Diplomacy. (PGDIAD)
A candidate may be eligible for admission into the Post-Graduate Diploma in International Affairs and Diplomacy (PGDIAD) programme if he/she possesses B.Sc. Degree or HND in any field. The programme shall run 18 months divided into two equal Parts. JanuaryβJune devoted purely to lectures while July-December will be devoted to both lectures and project writing. Lecture holds on weekends fortnightly. To qualify for the award of Pos-Graduate Diploma, candidates must pass a minimum of 35 credits including all compulsory courses.
V. Ph.D. POLITICAL SCIENCE
A candidate may be eligible for admission into the Ph.D. (Political Science) programme if he/she possesses M.Sc. (Political Science) with a minimum of 60% in final master degree examination from a reputable University. The duration of the programme shall be a minimum of 30 calendar months and a maximum of 42 calendar months.
