The admission requirements for B.Sc Economics depend on the mode of entry. There are two modes, UTME and Direct Entry (DE).UTME Entry Admission Requirements For Economics
For a candidate to be qualified for admission through the UME, he/she is expected to, in addition to sitting and passing the UME for the current academic session, have not less than five O/L credit passes to include;
English language, Mathematics, Economics and any other two Social Science subjects in SSCE conducted by approved Examination Bodies in Nigeria and in not more than two sittings. The acceptable UME subjects include; English language, Mathematics, Economics and any other Social sciences Subject.
Direct Entry Admission Requirements
Direct entry is considered for candidates who in addition to meeting the O/L requirements, sat and had at least two A/Level passes in Economics and any other Social science subject in examinations conducted by Interim Joint Matriculation Board (IJMB) or any other approved body or possess the Diploma in Money and Banking with at least Upper Credit from University of Ilorin.THE DEPARTMENTAL ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS FOR POSTGRADUATES STUDENTS Β M.Sc Economics
Candidate must have obtained a B.Sc Degree in Economics (with at least Second Class Lower Division) from University of Ilorin or any other approved University. Candidates with Second Class lower Division degree may be admitted if they scored at least 55% in the qualifying Examination. Those who had Second Class Upper Division and First Class shall attend interview to be conducted by the Departmental Postgraduate Committee and only those who performed satisfactorily may be considered for admission.Duration
The duration of the programme is minimum of 12 calendar months and maximum of 24 months. Candidates may apply for extension of not more than two consecutive periods of 12 months after the expiry of the normal duration period, after which the programme elapses.

Candidates with Masters Degree in Economics from University of Ilorin and other recognised institutions must have scored 60% or its equivalent in their Masters Degree examination to the qualify for admission to the Doctor of Philosophy in Economics.
In addition to the above, candidate shall appear for interview to be conducted by the Department. Final admission depends on the outcome of the interview.
