The University of Ibadan (UI) has broadened its undergraduate offerings to encompass two methods of instructional delivery – the conventional in-person approach and the inventive Open and Distance eLearning (ODeL) approach. Both avenues are valid choices for earning a UI degree, and as a result, the University has implemented the “Equality of Recognition” policy, which ensures that students in both learning modes have the same rights and opportunities.

In accordance with this policy, students in both in-person/face-to-face and ODeL learning environments follow the same syllabus, take identical exams, are instructed by the same educators/facilitators, receive the same esteemed UI diploma, and qualify for the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) mobilization.
In an effort to broaden access to UI ODeL programs, the University is delighted to reveal that the enrollment process for the University of Ibadan Distance Learning Centre’s 2022/2023 Academic Session will commence on March 13, 2023. Eligible applicants are urged to seize this opportunity and apply.
What is UI Open Distance eLearning Mode?
ODeL is the National Universities Commission’s (NUC) approved ICT-enabled curriculum delivery mode, wherein curriculum delivery takes place in a blended 60% online, and 40%-to-face.
The online delivery is anchored on a Specialised Learning Management System, Mobile Class with Course Webinars for learners to study and interact with their E-tutors, course lecturers/facilitators and other students in the world in real-time.
The University of Ibadan has further provided Toll-Free Internet Data on its Learning Portal. Notably, the University has the two modes of educational deliveries: the conventional onsite mode and the Open, Distance and eLearning (ODeL) mode. And both modes are viable alternative for pursing a University of Ibadan degree, hence the entrenchment of the “Parity of Esteem” policy in the University.
The policy stipulates that students on the two modes of study have equal rights and privileges in the University. And are in fact exposed to the same university curriculum and exams by the same course lecturers/facilitators, thereby graduating with the same University of Ibadan degree.
