This is to inform all prospective Corps members that the Authority of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has announced the date for the commencement of the 2020 Batch ‘B’ Orientation Course.
Management of the Scheme has scheduled the 2020 Batch ‘B’ Orientation course to commence on Tuesday, 10th November, 2020 Nationwide.
The NYSC 2020 Batch ‘B’ Orientation Course is scheduled to commence in all the NYSC Orientation Camps as follows:
- Commencement/Registration – Tuesday, 10th November, 2020.
- Cut-off date for Registration – 12 Midnight, Wednesday, 11th November, 2020.
- Swearing-In Ceremony – Thursday, 12th November, 2020.
- Closing Ceremony: Monday, 30th November, 2020.
All prospective corps members slated for the 2020 Batch ‘B’ Orientation Course are advised to proceed to their respective Camps as stated on their Call-up Letters. Foreign-trained graduates are to report to the Camp with their International Passport and original copies of all uploaded documents.
National Diploma (ND) Certificate will be presented in addition to other relevant documents by Prospective Corps Members of Mono/Polytechnic as pre-condition for registration at the Orientation Camps nationwide.
Prospective corps members are strongly advised not to present any fake document for registration. Management has put in place adequate machineries to clamp down and prosecute anyone caught.
In the event of any loss of Call-up Letter, the Corps member who collected the Call-up letter from his/her Institution is advised to obtain Police Report and Sworn Affidavit, thereafter, report to the Institution of graduation for further necessary action. Those who initially printed their Call-up Letters on-line can re-print the Call-up Letters in the case of loss.
Any person who fails to report for service in the Service Corps as directed in the Call-up Letter and/or refuses to make himself available for service in the Service Corps shall be prosecuted in line with the provisions of Section 13 sub-section 1(a) and (b) of the NYSC Act, Cap. N84, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria. 2004.
Also, any person who is not eligible to participate in the Service Corps or has been duly issued with a Certificate of National Service or Certificate of Exemption but so participates or attempts to so participate shall be prosecuted in line with Section 13 sub-section 2(a) and (b) of the NYSC Act, Cap. N84, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004.
Similarly, deployment, relocation and internal posting of Corps Members are treated in accordance with laid down policy and do not attract any fee.
Prospective and Serving Corps Members are hereby advised to beware of fraudsters with mischievous intentions that may want to lure them into parting with some money under the guise of rendering such services.
NYSC Guidelines on Re-Opening of Orientation Camps and Resumption of Orientation Course Nationwide
A. Pre-Orientation Course Activities
- Decontamination of habitable areas in camp, in addition to strict observance of physical distancing, regular hand-washing, avoidance of face touching, sensitizing all members of the camp community on cough etiquette (hygiene) and enforcement of the use of face mask.
- Re-arrangement of beds for corps members to allow for two-meter spacing as provided for in the COVID-19 safety protocol.
- Temperature testing at the point of entry to the camps for corps members, and all other members of the camp community, Trained personnel to be engaged on this score.
- States using schools as temporary orientation camps should start liaising with their respective State Governments immediately, as such schools would be eager to resume after the lifting of the restrictions
- Camp Market operators should be sensitized on COVID-19 protocols, and their number scaled down to allow for physical distancing.
- Call.up letters of prospective corps members shall Include all protocols on COVID-19 Prevention.
- Reduction in the number of corps participants during each orientation exercise, to free, space and make for physical distancing.
- Period of registration to be extended to effectively manage the crowd. This is to ensure that there are no large gatherings during the registration period.
- Key camp officials are to be trained by NCDC on infection Prevention and Control (IPC), who will in turn step down the training to other camp officials and corps members.
- Resident Consultants from Federal Tertiary Health institutions are to train Corps Medical Personnel on management of suspected cases of COVID-19 on camp
b. IN-Camp Activities
- Restriction of movement during the on course, excepting only very essential personnel.
- Compulsory use of face masks by all orientation course participants.
- Introduction of e-learning for some lectures in the camp, the number of lectures to be scaled down to accommodate only very essential ones. Other lectures to be held virtually.
- Hand Washing Stands and hand sanitizers must be made available at various points in camp.
- There must be strict adherence to social distancing in all camp activities. A committee comprising NYSC officials, representatives of collaborating agencies In camp and corps members should be constituted, to monitor compliance with COVID-19 Safety protocols.
- Many service points should be created for activities, where corps members are expected to queue up, e.g Registration, Issuance of kits, Collection of meals. Payment of allowance etc.
NB:
- Accordingly, State/FCT Coordinators are requested to strengthen camp preparations for safe orientation exercise
- There most be effectual liaison with the relevant agencies In the States/FCT to ensure adherence to the implementation of the strategies.
- Area Directors are to monitor and report on the level of compliance with the strategies, please.
