INTRODUCTION
1.1Background of the Study
Information Communication Technology (ICT ) is a very important tool that has completely change the way office operation is been carried out in the past ,with use of ICT tools information can be received process ,store and retrieved within a shortest possible time with ease. ICT has change an office operation and make the world a global village where people can communicate effectively and efficiently(Fowler 2006)
People in organization typically spend over 75% of their time in interpersonal communication, thus it is no surprise to find out that every organization either profit or nonprofit oriented require effective commination in order to actualize her goals.Information Communication Technology is seen as one of the tool that can enhance the effectiveness of communication in every organization.
Challenge of most organizations is poor communication; effective communication is essential component of organizational success.(Cole 2002)
According to Aruno (2001) effective communication brings about development of information and understanding in place of work. It provides the right attitude for improving morale, co-operation and job satisfaction. Effective communication enhances the quality of every organization.
Effective Communication plays two important roles in an employee’s morale and performance. Cole (2002) asserts that the first role that communication plays in an employee’s morale is that of increase, while the second has to do with decrease.
Cole also observes that the planned communication development programs returns value to the organization in the form of increased morale, increases productivity, reduced cost and greater stability of the organization. It also facilitates adaptation changing external requirement which helps to keep the organization abreast with development in modern technology.
Effective communication helps the employee to attain high level of performance. Fowler (2006) opines that effective communication helps to create good sense of belonging among employees, and this brings about efficiency and effectiveness of employees. Human relations also attains a high level as a result of effective communication and this goes a long way in helping managers to know howto relate and deal with their employees successfully.
Communication consists of all the processes by which information is transmitted. The main purpose of communication is to make the receiver understand the intended meaning by the sender.
Southgate (2002) asserts that the conveying of thoughts, desire or data to someone is more than just an exchange of evidence to be effective. What is said or written must be understood by the receiver or else the aim of that communication is defeated. Thus communication is more concerned with the success transfer of an idea from one person to another.
Jennings (2007) opines that the activities of office professionals like effective communication are very important in every organization ,because it is this classes of workers that can organize meetings and conferences effectively. ICT tools can actively enhance the communication in business and industry, communication helps to orient workers to work with one another and to achieve the good goals of the organization, and it is the mean by which such goals can be pursued, attained sustained and improved. It is lubricant that keep the machinery of an organization functioning.
It is the means through which roles are identified and assigned, it is the life blood of an organization. No organization can survive without communication. (Otobo, 2000).
Utilization of Information and Communication Technology can go a long way in eradicated the existing problems of communication by making the communication more effective and efficient. Despite the importance of ICT in modern office, but is been neglected by some organizations. Because of importance of ICT in enhancing effective commination this research will examine the impact of ICT on effective communication among Office Professionals.
1.2 Statement of Problem
Communication is the lubricant that keeps an organization functioning. It helps to decrease misunderstanding, as well as increases turnover and job satisfaction. In every organizations where communication is ineffective that organizations suffers some negative consequences. Good communication helps to coordinate human and physical elements of the organization into an efficient and effective component.
It helps to direct, motivate, correct and create an atmosphere in which everyone would like to contribute.In most of the organization they fail to realize the role of ICT in promoting effective communication which is causing problems in organizations such as: duplication of responsibilities, conflict among workers or employees, inability to follow chain of command in communication, communication leakage among employees.
Utilization of Information and Communication Technology can go a long way in eradicated the existing problems of communication by making the communication more effective and efficient. Despite the importance of ICT in modern office, but is been neglected by some organizations.Based on this premise the research is aim at examine the impact of ICT on effective communication among Office Professionals.

The main purpose of this study is to examine the impact of Information communication technology on effective communication among office professionals in an organization .The specifically will :
