Ignatius Ajuru University of Education (IAUE) Best Graduating Student Receives One Million Naira Cash Award

Miss Faith Chidinma Igbonekwu, the best graduating student of the Ignatius Ajuru University of Education (IAUE), has been awarded one million naira cash.

MISS IGBONEKWU EMERGES AS SECOND RECIPIENT OF IAUE ONE MILLION NAIRA CASH AWARD TO BEST GRADUATING STUDENT

Miss Faith Chidinma Igbonekwu of the Department of English and Communication Art, Faculty of Humanities, Ignatius Ajuru University of Education has emerged as the second recipient of the university one million naira cash award to the best graduating student.

She was presented with the one million naira cash award in addition to several other cash awards and prizesΒ during the 38th convocation ceremonyΒ of the university which held on Friday, December 18, 2020, at the university auditorium.

The Faculty of Humanities has produced the best graduating students for four consecutive years now (2015-2016, 2016-2017, 2017-2018, and 2018-2019).

In her valedictory speech, the best graduating student of 2018/2019 academic session Miss Faith Chidinma Igbonekwu of the Department of English and Communication Art, Faculty of Humanities thanked the Rivers State Governor Chief (Barrister) Nyesom Ezenwo Wike (CON) for his support and assistance to the university and for his outstanding leadership which has transformed the State into an enviable height and for his vision towards the betterment of the State.

She expressed gratitude to the Vice-Chancellor of IAUE Professor Ozo-Mekuri Ndimele for good leadership, discipline, peace, enabling environment and for transforming and raising the university to a pinnacle of excellence both academically and structurally.

Miss Igbonekwu described the Vice-Chancellor as a man of vision, a motivator and a progressive digital Vice-Chancellor. She prayed to God to keep him and endow him with wisdom for greater leadership.

She thanked the Dean of Faculty of Humanities Professor Kingdom Orji and Lecturers in the Department of English and Communication Art for the zeal and commitment with which they taught, stressing that her academic excellence is as a result of their tutelage, advice, inspiring words, relentless and untiring support as well as an indication that effective teaching and learning took place within the space of four academic sessions.

The best graduating student appreciated her late father and mother who took the burden of training her and giving all that they had to ensure that she got the best education and others who never hesitated to accept responsibilities when called upon.

While congratulating fellow graduands, she called on them to be ambassadors of peace and love and to direct their action towards making Nigeria and the world a better place and to be the change they seek in whatever position that they find themselves.

Miss Igbonekwu also advised the graduands to learn to promote peace and unity in their capacity as no nation can strive in the presence of war, violence and disunity.

She said that their graduation marks the end of one phase and the beginning of another and urged them to do their best and not to be weighed down by the uncertainties and odds of the future but to remain focused and seek God’s intervention when things begin to fall apart.
