INTRODUCTION
Background of the Study
The relationship between design and production is the planning and execution of a conceived idea or plan. The plan should anticipate and complete the potential problem in the execution process. Design involves problem solving and creativity. A design may also be a mere plan that does not include a production (Ward 2010).
According to Ralph (2013), design is a specification of an object, manifested by some agent, intended to accomplish goals, in a particular environment using a set of primitive components in satisfying a set of requirement.
It is in view of this that the researcher embarks on the use of the local fabric specifically (dyed fabric) to decorate and design an office (Head of Department) Department of Fashion Design and Clothing Technology in particular this project is essentially experimental as most of our modern offices, homes are usually designed and furnished with foreign accessories.
It is intended that if the use of local fabrics works out well, it will serve as a spring board upon which future researchers will boost the acceptability and affordability of dyed fabric in the market and outside the country as well. The researchers intends to produce office furniture and accessories such as wallhangs, curtains, magazine rack, and wall clock and biro standwith appropriate colour mixing.
As designers, the researchers want to introduce new designed accessories that will coordinate the office with items already listed above in a unique and attractive way in order to stimulate people from other departments and people out side the school environment.
Statement of Problem
The awareness of the dyed fabric in office design and furnishing is very low in Nigeria. The dearth of knowledge and skill in the art and science of fabric dyeing has led to immense loss of revenue. Another problem is, dyed fabric is limited to garment production when it could be used for varieties of other designs such as interior, furnishing etc. Most people do not use local fabric in their homes and offices except it is specially ordered for.
Others find it difficult to patronize the locally made products, maybe because of the high quality products that are produced and imported into the country.

The objective of this study includes:

2. To beautify and improve the appearance and look of an office.

4. To promote craftsmanship and entrepreneurship in the society.
5. To serve as source of employment opportunity to graduating students in the Department of Fashion Design and Clothing Technology.
6. To encourage the use of locally made fabrics in offices for decorations and furnishing.
7. To encourage and promote self-reliance, satisfaction and pride of our locally made products.
8. To generate income through mass production of foot mats, curtains, table cloths
1.4 Scope of the Study
The scope of this project is to design and produce accessories such as, curtains for doors and window Magazine rack, wall clock, and biro stand using tie and dye technique. The researcher intends to produce 8 curtains for doors and windows, two magazine rack, one wall clock and two biro stand.
Significance of Study
In recent times, emphasis is gradually being shifted from local fabric to foreign goods. This unfortunate phenomenon is generally eroding our cultural heritage. This study will help African fashion designers to develop their creativity. It will stimulate and boost their creative consciousness and persuade them towards showcasing their creative ability using locally made fabrics. The study will also help the designer to make use of the readily available and affordable local fabrics to raise the economy of the country. The dyed fabric will not only be useful in our society but will in turn create jobs and other economy and environmental benefits.
Research Questions
The researcher questions are guided by the following questions:
Why does Nigerian fashion product receive low patronage?
Is dyed fabric office accessories available in the market?
Will dyed fabric product be accepted by Nigeria?
What is the level of awareness of dyed fabric in Nigeria?
