INTRODUCTION
1.1 Background of the Study
This project is focused on the challenges of suit production. In closing a suit is a set of garment made from the same cloth, consisting of at least a jacket, skirt for female and jacket trouser for male as stated by Calasibetta (2003).
Dress making is seen as a form of civilization which man introduced to cover his body as stated by Mado-Alabi (1999). Dress can be referred to as clothes worn by men or women.
Clothes are products of dress making which includes suit shirts. Skirts, trousers, growns, blouse, Jallabiya, etc.
These clothes are produced by making pattern constructions cutting of fabric, sewing and finishing. The production of clothes can be in units or mass production. Flossier (1996) added that suit, jacket and coat are outer garment designed to be worn over other garments.
There are three (3) ways of producing suit which are bespoke, made to measure, and ready to wear (massly produced).
Standard suit making involves cutting, basting, padding, lining attachment, molding and sewing. A finished standard suit has the following specifications-label, pocket, button, and buttonhole. Pocket flap, back vent, sleeve vent.
According to Drusedow (1990), the silhouette of a suit is the outline, tailored balance, of a suit is the outline, tailored balance, created from a canvas fitting, allows a balanced silhouette so a jacket needs not be buttoned and a garment is not be too loose. A proper garment is not to be too tight or too loose. A proper garment is shaped from the neck to the chest and shoulder to drape without wrinkles from tension. Shape is essential part of tailoring that often takes hand work from the start.
1.2 Statement of Problem
Dress is essential to man, being one of the basic needs, as started by Maslow (2003). It is therefore necessary for him to appear good in them if proper body shape and measurement of the person is not taken into consideration there might cause problem in the construction of the garment.
Suits come in different designs and styles but it is noticed that most of those worn by Nigerian have fitting faults, these faults because discomfort, lack of garment fit and even reduction in garment life span.
1.3 Aims and Objective

1.5 Scope of the Study
The study was based on the production of a male and female suit eliminating common faults observed during the pilot study from the responses of local tailors. A male and female student of Kaduna polytechnic was used as the model to fit the garment produced using the flat pattern making method.
An Italian cashmere suiting fabric for male and female will be used to carry out the project.
