Construction Of A Reinforced Concrete Slab Passage

Complete project materials on Construction Of A Reinforced Concrete Slab Passage from chapter one to five

CHAPTER ONE

1.0 INTRODUCTION

This project is all about construction of a reinforced concrete slab passage in mechanical engineering department.

Rebar (short for reinforcing bar) is a collectively known as reinforcing steel and reinforcing steel: is a steel bar or mesh of steel wires used as a tension device in reinforced concrete and reinforced masonry structure to strengthen and hold the concrete in tension. Rebar’s surface is often patterned to form a better bond with the concrete placing rebar.

Rebar cages are fabricated either on or off the project site commonly with the help of hydraulic benders and shears. The reinforced concrete are place with steel fixers β€œrod busters” or concrete reinforcing iron works, with bar support and concrete or plastic rebar space separating the rebar from the concrete form work to establish concrete cover and ensure that proper embedment is achieved by the rebar’s in the cages are concrete by spot welding, tying steel wire, sometime using an electric rebar ties, or with mechanical connection.

Reinforce concrete slab is a common structural element of modern buildings, horizontal slab of steel reinforced concrete. A reinforce concrete slab is a brand, flat plate, usually horizontal with top and bottom surfaces, parallel or nearly so.

It may be support by reinforced concrete beams (and is usually cast monolithically with beams), by masonry or reinforced concrete walls by structural steel members, directly by column or continuously by the ground.

1.1TYPES OF CONCRETE SLABS.

One – way slab

Two – way slab

Flat plate slab

Flat slab

Grid or waffle slab

1.1.1 ONE – WAY SLAB: The structural action of a one – way slab may be visualize in terms of the deformed shape of the loaded surface.

1.1.2 FLAT SLAB: It is also beamless but incorporated a thickened slab region in the vicinity of the column and often employed flared column tops.

1.1.3 GRID OR WAFFLE SLAB: It reduce the dead load of solid – slab construction, void are form in a rectilinear pattern through the use of metal or fiber glass from inserts.

1.2 PROBLEM STATEMENT

The problem statement is hazard of a damage slab in front of the H.O.D (Head of department) office, mechanical engineering department and lack of safety.

In engineering before doing any other job or work, we have to take safety into consideration, i.e. safety has no quitting time. Safety is the state of being β€œsafe”, the condition of being protected from harm or other non – desirable outcome. Safety can also refer to the control or recognized hazards in order to achieve an acceptable level of risk.

1.3 BACKGROUND INFORMATION OF PROBLEM STATEMENT

Hazard is any agent that can cause harm or damage of life, health, properties of the environment. Hazard can be dormant or potential with only a theoretical probability of harm. An event that is caused by interaction with a hazard is called an accident, the likely severity of the undesirable consequences of an accident associated with a hazard, combined with the probability of this occurring, constituted the associated risk. If there is no probability of a hazard contributing toward an incident, these are no risk.

1.4.0 AIM AND OBJECTIVE

The aim of this project is to construct a reinforced concrete slab passage for mechanical engineering department and in the designing and construction of this project safety, economic and serviceability were taken into consideration.

1.4.1 OBJECTIVE

To prevent people from injured or any accident that can cause by the place.

To prevent the department from environment hazard.

To provide passage.

To take safety into consideration.

1.5 SCOPE AND LIMITATION

The construction of this project is limited for passage of people in the department and other department and the reinforced concrete slab is also limited to carry at least five people to pass at the same time. All construction work shall be carried out in the mechanical engineering department; no construction shall be taken outside for any reason.

1.6 SIGNIFICATION OF THE WORK

The work that we are about to carryout is extremely important in our daily activities, the purpose of these work is to construct a reinforced concrete slab passage for the people in the department and other people from other department.

One of the major significant of this reinforced concrete slab is to provide safety and to prevent from environmental hazard.
